Our Story

As an experienced guitar teacher with over a decade of teaching children, I had encountered the full range of available teaching resources. When my own kids expressed an early interest in playing the guitar, I recognised that the existing materials to guide their learning were outdated and uninspiring. Determined to develop a better approach, I recalled an observation from over a decade ago.

One day, while teaching at a Sydney music studio, I noticed a violin instructor placing colourful stickers on the violin to help her young students navigate their instruments. A lightbulb went off. Could there be a better, more engaging way to teach guitar to kids? Inspired, I began experimenting with new teaching methods tailored specifically for young learners and decided to create a program unlike any other on the market.

The result was my own proprietary 'Guitar for Kids' curriculum, which utilizes a system of colorful fretboard stickers, catchy songs, and gamified learning techniques to make the learning process fun and approachable for children.

Over the years, I've seen firsthand how this innovative approach can transform a child's experience with the guitar. Instead of becoming frustrated and discouraged, my students quickly gain confidence and a genuine love for making music.

Teaching a 5-year-old requires more than just knowledge; it demands a unique approach that blends fun with fundamentals. I discovered that capturing a child’s attention and making learning exciting is a delicate art. Sure Kids can go to weekly lessons but it’s what happens in the practice space at home that makes a difference. Determined to create a better learning experience, I embarked on a mission to revolutionise guitar education for kids. This journey led to the birth of Kids Guitar Dojo. What started as a personal quest has now grown into a vibrant community where over 2,000 young musicians thrive. We understand the joy and challenges of nurturing budding talent and are committed to making the learning process as delightful as it is effective.
